The Senator

I have been using this time in quarantine to go back and finish old projects that have been nagging me in the back of my mind.
I'm not shy about my love of trees big and small. This image of "The Senator" which is sadly no longer with us(burnt down by someone smoking meth). At one time this Tree was thought to be the 5th oldest tree in the world and the biggest tree east of the Mississippi. To make this image I had to composite 3 images photographed in 2008 together to capture the scale and grandeur of this tree and its surroundings. I chose to make monochromatic and color versions of this image. The color version was inspired by the old style postcards of the 50's and 60's, The monochromatic version was inspired by iconic Florida photographer Clyde Butcher Photography.
